John R. Carter, MD
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. John R. Carter has been a practicing OB-GYN in Bossier City since 1988. He enjoys an excellent reputation as a very personable and caring obstetrician for low risk as well as higher risk pregnant women of all ages.
Dr. Carter provides office gynecologic services including surgical procedures such as office sterilization (Essure) and endometrial ablation (Thermochoice). He stays up to date with the latest gynecologic surgical procedures, developing advanced skills for minimally invasive procedures including laparoscopic hysterectomy and laser procedures.
Dr. Carter is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Diplomat of the American Board of OB-GYN. He is a member of numerous medical and professional societies. He obtained his Medical Doctorate at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. He also completed his residency training at LSUHSC.
Dr. Carter is happily married to Jan Bailey Carter. They have raised two children who have passed through Bossier schools and beyond. In his spare time Dr. Carter enjoys outdoor activity and hunting.

Thursday was my first visit to Dr. John Carter. I was gracious greeted at reception. After filling out paperwork, which took about 15 minutes, I was sent to the examination room. There I spoke with Dr. Carter’s nurse about 5 minutes explaining the reason for my visit. She was very friendly and professional. Less than 5 minutes later Dr. Carter came in. Right away he put me at ease. He completed the exam and returned a few minutes later to explain everything so that I fully understood. I give my experience an A+.
I definitely recommend Dr. John Carter’s office for your female needs.

I have been going to Dr. Carter for over 10 years he is the best OBGYN there is. My late husband introduced us and I am so glad he did best decisions ever. Dr. Carter is the type of doctor that listens cares and understand the needs of his patience. We tried to conceive a child but it was not in gods plans for us to do that but Dr. Carter did try and that means a lot. After some years with insurance and stuff I had to find another doctor but I switch back insurance and was able to go back to Dr. Carter and by the time I went back my husband had passed and when Dr. Carter and staff found out they was saddened and really concerned about me and that means a lot. When you find a doctor and his nurses that are concerned with patients you really hit the jackpot.
