Mammograms matter.   While one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, the good news is that, when caught in the earliest localized stages, the five-year survival rate is 99%!

Here are some facts:

  • Screening mammograms help catch breast cancer at these early stages.
  • Most cases occur in middle-aged or older women, but breast cancer can happen at any age.
  • If you have a mother, daughter or sister who has had breast cancer, you should begin screening 10 years before your relative was diagnosed.
  • It’s quick and easy, and worth the slight discomfort for a short period of time.
